Basic Document Required

 
  • Passport should be valid, minimum for 6 months after the expiry of the proposed visa.
 
Tourism Visa - Documents Required
 
  • One photograph as per specification.
  • Original signed form DS-156
  • Original Form DS-160 CEAC barcode page (applicant will not need the full application).
  • Valid HDFC Bank visa fee receipt
  • Original Birth Certificate for children below 14 years of age.
  • If you are visiting a relative, carry photocopies of the relative's proof of status e.g. Green Card, naturalisation certificate, valid visa etc.
  • It is also helpful to carry evidence of how the trip will be financed along with letters of deputation, invitation or sponsorship also known as the Affidavit of Support (Form I-134).
  • A tourist may show evidence of financial resources through bank statements and tax returns for the past 3 years.
  • Dependents joining their spouse on-board ship need to carry their original marriage certificate and entire wedding photo album along with the spouse's visa copy.
 
For Students
 
  • Leave Sanction & I/D card copy.
  • Proof of Fixed Deposits/ Investments/ Property Papers - If any.
  • Vehicle Registrations.
 
For parents visiting a child resident in the US
 
  • If child is an Indian citizen- Childs's original birth certificate.
  • Photocopy of all pages of child's passport.
  • Where the US visa of child has expired, photocopy of the renewed petition required.
  • Where child is a legal permanent resident in USA, photocopy of the green card (front and back) is required.
  • If child is a U.S. citizen. Photocopy of bio-data page of US passport or photocopy of Naturalization Certificate.
 
Notice
 
  • The Application Fee and VFS' Service Charge are nonrefundable and must be paid by each applicant
  • If you live in India or Bhutan, you must appear for your visa interview at the Visa Section that has jurisdiction over the Consular District where you have been resident for the last six months. If you have permanently moved location in the last six months, and are not on a temporary transfer, you should apply at the Visa Section covering your present residence. For information on Consular Districts, respond to all the questions. If you have no response for a question, write "none" or "nil". Do not draw a line or write "NA" or "not applicable"
  • You may amend, at any time, your completed and printed application forms in pen if the details of your application change or you made a mistake. Do not complete and print another DS-156 or DS-157 Form. Amend your original forms instead
  • If you do not appear for your visa interview appointment your HDFC Visa Fee Receipt will be deactivated. You will not be able to book another appointment. If you have a valid reason why you did not appear for your appointment, you can request that VFS reactivate your Visa Fee Receipt
  • If you do not present the mandatory documents and a photo that meets the requirements, your visa application will be considered incomplete
 
Business Visa - Documents Required
 
  • One photograph as per specification.
  • Original signed form DS-156
  • Original Form DS-157 only if you are 15 to 55 years of age.
  • Original form DS-158
  • Valid HDFC Bank visa fee receipt
  • Covering letter from the applicant on company's letterhead stating his name, designation, purpose and duration of visit.
  • Proof that the Company will finance the trip.
  • If the company is new or unknown it is helpful to carry tax records of the firm for the last 3 years.
  • It is also helpful to carry evidence of how the trip will be financed along with letters of deputation, invitation or sponsorship also known as the Affidavit of Support (Form I-134).
